The Albemarle Conference was organized in 1945 when as many as 17 churches from Central Conference decided to form a separate organization. Today the Albemarle Conference includes 14 churches and covers all or portions of Washington, Tyrell, Pasquotank, Hertford and Beaufort counties in northeastern North Carolina.
